The Civil Engineer Role
Our client is actively recruiting for a Civil Engineer with drainage and highways project experience. You will help to deliver an exciting variety of civil engineering, highways, drainage and infrastructure projects.
The ideal Civil Engineer
You will have the following skills and experience:
• 2-3 years’ experience minimum
• Excellent knowledge of roads, earthworks, and particularly highways and drainage design principles
• A good understanding of section agreements including S38 and S278, legislative requirements and design standards
• Working knowledge of leading industry software packages (i.e. Microdrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D Microstation, etc.)
• Experience in a consultancy environment working on multi-disciplined projects
• A confident Civil Engineer with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Assistant Civil Engineers will also be considered for this vacancy.
£25,000 to £40,000 per annum plus Pension, Parking, Profit Share, Private Healthcare, Professional Subs and Cycle to Work Scheme.
THE ROLE
Working with a talented team of Chartered, mid-level and graduate engineers, our client is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated Civil Engineer to join their Christchurch Office.
The successful candidate will have sound experience in a wide variety of Civil Engineering projects including highway and drainage design for a variety of sites with particular experience of both private and public works, including sections agreements (S38, S278, S106 etc).
Working on a broad range of projects, this high performing team of professionals are looking for diligent individual who can produce all relevant drawings for Civil Engineering projects. The projects are very diverse and generally challenging, incorporating bespoke new build, refurbishment and heritage works.

CIVIL ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience with the following would be highly desirable:
- Providing high quality concept, preliminary and detailed technical design on projects requiring highway and drainage design.
- Carrying out a range of drainage calculations, including QBar, attenuation storage, soakaway sizing, foul loads, pipeline capacities and network analysis for a range of drainage applications.
- Carrying out a range of adoptable and non-adoptable highway, driveway carparking and footpath structural pavement designs for a range of permeable and non-permeable surfaces.
- Preparing Developer Enquiries, Environment Agency product requests and LLFA information requests, relating to drainage designs, flood risk assessments and drainage strategies.
- Preparing S104, S106 and S185 application forms and associated packages for submission to the Drainage Authority and Planning Authority.
- Preparing S184, S278 and S38 application forms and associated packages for submission to the Highway Authority.
- Report writing, e.g. Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategy Reports etc.
- Management of sustainability criteria
- Complying with designers’ duties under the CDM Regulations
Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with proven ability in all aspects of drainage and infrastructure design and is able to provide sound advice to support their network of clients. The role is based in Aberdeen.
What will the successful Civil Engineer do:
You will be working closely with the Infrastructure Team and Senior Director supporting the production of engineering designs for planning applications, detailed designs and construction of drainage, highways, street works and public realm, SUDS, and building drainage, for major infrastructure and residential, retail, industrial and commercial developments.

- HNC or BEng Civil Engineering degree

- Numerate and software literate including experience and knowledge of Microdrainage and AutoCAD.

- Experience applying the principles, design codes and standards set out in the SuDS Manual and DCG.

CIVIL ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES

- Liaise and communicate clearly in a professional manner to colleagues, clients, contractors and other designers and to offer advice and guidance on matters relating to your work.
